1/9/2009 -- Happy New Year everyone! I'd like to thank everyone who stopped by at the Worlds: Memphis event last month, it was certainly a memorable one. My apologies to everyone in which my feeling under the weather on the Saturday-day caused any inconveniences. As Wil Wheaton would say, I caught the one-day version of "con sars". ;)

I've finally gotten back to filling out rest of the Shards of Alara™ images here.

Also, there's another event coming up in two weeks which I'll be attending, the Ft. Worth prerelease of Magic: The Gathering's© Conflux™ set. It will likely be on Saturday the 31st only, but I'll post more specific hours if I get them prior to my flight.

2/6/2009 -- I've updated the artwork done for the new Conflux™ set.

5/15/2009 -- The Nemesis of Reason card from the Alara Reborn™ set is now up.

5/31/2009 -- The Grand Prix: Seattle/Tacoma event was a big success! Thanks to all the attendees, judges, and support staff from Cascade Games. A big thanks to the lovely Rosie Primero for helping Anson and I out with sellables and for being an all-around good sport. And special thanks to Tim Shields for the whole shebang!

6/29/2009 -- Although I'm not ready to sell my artist-proofs cards through my website yet, I'm offering over e-Bay (through Jay Zeman, thanks Jay!) a set of my 16 original cards that were made up from a Collector's Edition set (since artist-proofs were never made from the round-cornered Alpha's). Because of that, they have square corners and aren't technically playable as tournament-legal cards. But, they're still very nifty, and this is the last time they'll be offered as a "complete set", since it includes the very last Chaos Orb in my collection. The sales are split into two, so 15 of the 16 will be sold here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=270415582265&Category=19115

And the proof of the Timetwister will be sold separately here:

7/17/2009 -- It's the start of the Japan 2009 Nationals here in Fukuyama City! Along with Anthony Waters, I'll be signing cards & selling prints today. I've got a whole lot of new ones this time, so I'll try to have them available on the website as soon as possible. My hours at the booth today on Friday will be from 10am to 1 pm (13:00), and again from 3pm until 6pm (15:00-18:00). I'll try to update soon!

2:00pm -- It's a fairly slow day so far, the actual event is more in the gearing up phase, people are qualifying in order to get into the weekend tournaments, so a lot of people haven't shown up yet. A good time to get some sketching in!

9/1/2009 -- I've updated the Magic 2010entry with two new previously unseen artworks: Elite Vanguard and Mind Control.

9/2/2009 -- I'll be appearing at the Wizards of the Coast booth at the PAX Expo 2009 in Seattle this Friday through Sunday. I'll be bringing original artwork, prints, artists proofs cards, and of course my poor wrist to sign any number of cards that are brought before me. I hope you can drop by!

9/2/2009 -- I've started to put some images into a Concept Art section. It's still a little rough, but hopefully should give you a taste of what's to come.

9/12/2009 -- Geez, when did I put up the site for the first time? And how long did it have a temporary look? No more. Hopefully the new graphics are a start of a new redesign. Enjoy, I'll buff up the aluminum when I can find some polish.

9/12/2009 -- I'll be heading to Denver for the September 26th & 27th Magic: The Gathering© Zendikar prerelease in just a few weeks. If you'd like your stuff signed, buy prints or other stuff, c'mon by! Here's a link to a page that gives more specific information.

Also, there's a bit of a preview that just showed up on the Wizards site about one of the Zendikar cards that will feature some of my artwork. Check it out.

9/14/2009 -- There's a new article up at the Wizards site written by Jeremy Jarvis, the art director of Magic, explaining the concepting push I was involved with a year ago for the upcoming set, Zendikar™.

9/16/2009 -- Cool, so far two (*) of my artworks have previewed early from the Zendikar set. I wonder if there will be any more?

9/20/2009 -- I've updated the Art List page with the two pieces that were previewed earlier this week.

9/26/2009 -- Goblin Bushwhacker is in da house, so all three are up now! Also, some housekeeping was done to the site earlier in the week.

10/12/2009 -- A whole new slew of prints are now available through the online store! Check 'em out!

10/17/2009 -- "Roadwarrior" Christopher Otwell at mtgcast.com recently recorded a podcast interview with little old me at the Denver Zendikar prerelease event. If you're into incoherent ramblings on my part, give it a listen!

Update: Also, I've just added a few more new pages to the Concept Art section.

11/6/2009 -- A new concept art page is up now.

11/18/2009 -- I wanted to announce that my good friend Anson Maddocks, a Magic artist from WAY back, is having an art opening in Seattle this Friday night in a game store called Gamma Ray Games. Here's a Facebook link to the event:

And a link to Gamma Ray Games:

Come on by if you'd like to get stuff signed, or buy prints, his paintings (of course), or get some artist proof cards. Here's a snip from the press release:

Seattle, WA—Anson Maddocks, one of the original conceptual artists and designers for the world-famous Magic: the Gathering collectible trading-card game, will be showing a collection of his original paintings which represent his creative focus over the past 17 years. The Seattle-based artist will attend a reception at Gamma Ray Games to present these works and to autograph cards and artwork for fans.
The paintings range from personal explorations in surreal figurative work to the unorthodox approach towards fantasy illustration for which he is best known. Maddocks’ famous creations include illustrations for Magic: the Gathering such as Hurloon Minotaur, Llanowar Elves, Sengir Vampire, Disintegrate, Serendib Efreet, Elvish Archers and Fallen Angel. Apart from working as a principal artist on the emergence of Magic and its supplemental expansions, he has also contributed to such games as Vampire, Rage, Legend of the Five Rings, Legend of the Burning Sands, XXXenophile, Wraith, Shadow Fist, Battle Lords, The Whispering Vault, Sphere Walker and The Call of Cthulhu. Maddocks's artworks have appeared on the covers of Seattle Weekly, The Duelist, Inquest Magazine, Darkdreamer, The Unspeakable Oath and issues of the Magic: The Gathering comic book series. He has designed logos, posters, sets and props for performing groups such as Queensryche, Wicked Jezebel, The Jim Rose Circus Sideshow and several local fringe theatres, in addition to commissioned work for private collectors and numerous businesses including Cafe Vita and J-Sushi.

When: Friday November 20 from 7-9pm, paintings are currently showing and will remain up through November.
How Much: free.

12/16/2009 -- I've gone over the website and added color profiles to most of the larger .jpeg images, so they'll display with a little more proper color and contrast. (All images now have proper copyright metadata as well.) A few of them went a little too intense, but overall I'm much happier with how the contrasts and intended color now come across. Give it a look!

12/31/2009 -- Happy New Year, everybody! May your next be peaceful, prosperous, and all-around better.

1/6/2010 -- I'll be attending the Magic: The Gathering© WorldWake Prerelease here in Seattle on Saturday, January the 30th. The event will be held in the Seattle Center's Pavilion B. I'll be bringing the usual stuff: prints, artist proofs, and my poor wrist for signing! I hope you can come by and say hi!

1/28/2010 -- Some details on this Saturday's Seattle WorldWake Prerelease event: Anson Maddocks and myself will probably be there at the Seattle Center around 10am and go until we drop, which usually will be around 5pm or 6. I'll be bringing a full complement of prints if you'd like to check them out, as well as artist proof cards for sale. It's usually a good idea to expect card signings of twenty cards per visit through the line if one forms. That way, people with one or two won't have to wait tremendously long times to get them signed. Besides, I'm not going anywhere! :) Looking forward to seeing some of you there!!

2/8/2010 -- RIP WoTC Star Wars RPG :(. I didn't even get around to showing off what I had done in the books since 2003. Oh well, I'll try to put up a section on the site that archives what I did make for the game...

2/10/2010 -- I've added a Facebook presence to the site which I'll be treating as a "blog". Please stop on by if you have the guts!!

2/19/2010 -- There's now more specific information on the Magic: The Gathering's© Grand Prix Lyon event which I'll be attending in May:

2/19/2010 -- Also: I'll be attending the Rise of the Eldrazi Prerelease Event in Montreal, Quebec on Saturday, April 17th.

3/17/2010 -- I'll be heading to Chiba, Japan this year for the Magic: The Gathering© Pro Tour's Worlds event December 8th through the 12th. I'll give more information as the event comes closer.

3/24/2010 -- I noticed today on the Daily Magic: the Gathering site that a creature I'd concepted last year got turned into a fully painted piece by the artist Austin Hsu, called "Pathrazer of Ulamog". Check it out here (about 2/3rds of the way down the page):

3/25/2010 -- The version of the "Emrakul, the Aeons Torn" art that was floating around the web yesterday wasn't the best reproduction, so I've added it to the Rise of the Eldrazi entry.

By the way, that's a huge card creature. Wow!

Terashi's Grasp

3/27/2010 -- Holy heck! I'll be appearing at "the best four days in gaming" event GENCON 2010 this year! More details later...

3/31/2010 -- Here's an update on some of the panels that Julie Baroh, Brian Snoddy, and myself will be participating in for this week's Norwescon:

I'll be displaying twelve pieces of art at the art show and selling some prints at the print store, but alas, won't have a table. If you'd like some cards signed, check with me after each of the panels and I'll try to do some there unless we get kicked out of the room(s). See you there!

4/5/2010 -- The Daily Magic page on the Wizards site is showing off a bunch of concept art that was made last year by Vincent Proce, Jason Felix, Richard Whitters, and myself for the Rise of the Eldrazi Magic set. Check them out!

4/16/2010 -- Just some last minute information before I head to the Montreal Prerelease, Spellkeeper Events has let me know that I'll probably be signing at the event from 11am to 4pm (11h00 - 16h00). More information can be found here. See you soon!

4/29/10 -- More concepting fun! A bunch of work I did at Wizards last spring for Magic: The Gathering's current set Rise of the Eldrazihas been profiled on their site.

5/1/10 -- I've added the "Emrakul, the Aeons Torn" art to the list of available prints. I've also updated some information on international shipping.

6/9/10 -- Julie Baroh, Kyle Abernethy, and myself will be exhibiting our latest and greatest works at the KrabJab Studio. If you'd like to peruse or buy artworks, buy prints (or even get a few Magic: the Gathering cards signed as a bonus), then this Saturday's your chance. I will be showing off the Emrakul piece (or, the "Great Squiggly One") that's currently the most powerful card in Magic. Come by and take a look!

I'll be exhibiting a few new pieces from the Magic: the Gathering game, including some from the Rise of the Eldrazi and Magic: 2011 sets. If you'd like to peruse or buy artworks, buy prints (or even get a few Magic: the Gathering cards signed as a bonus), then this Saturday evening is your opportunity! 8/12/10 -- Georgetown! Once again, we're pulling out all the stops with our current art on display at our brand new digs (suite #250), at KrabJab Studio, located at the Old Rainier Bottling Plant building in Georgetown. The new studio is at the back of the building this time, not upstairs, so hopefully you can find us. I've hung all my artwork that was shown at GENCON (and then some), so come on over this Saturday (6pm-9pm) and check out all the new energy!

8/20/10 -- I've updated a few links, particularly of the Seattle Illustrator's Collective, where we get together once a week to draw from a costumed model, and the blog of KrabJab Studio, where I work. Check out what we've been doing at the Collective, I'll try to get some of my pieces posted soon.

9/1/10 -- I'll be attending this weekend's PAX Expo 2010, at Card Kingdom's booth (#111). I think I'll be there in two hour blocks (10am-noon, 1pm-3pm, 4pm-6pm) on Friday the 3rd, Saturday the 4th, and Sunday the 6th of September. If you'd like to have cards signed, buy prints, or get a sketch made on your playmats (for a nominal fee), please come and visit Anson Maddocks and myself this weekend. We'll bring our game-faces!

9/7/10 -- I've added a preview for one of the cards that will be showing up in Scars of Mirrodin. It showed up at the PAX Expo 2010, so it's fair to show it now. No information beyond that for now, though.

9/8/10 -- This upcoming weekend, I'll be attending the M:TG Grand Prix event in Portland. Depending upon prevailing traffic patterns this Friday Anson and I will try to get there for as much of the afternoon event as possible. 10/20/10 -- For this upcoming November's Georgetown Art Attack, Krab Jab Studio will be hosting a solo show featuring works from my 20-year career as an artist. I'll have a number of larger works on paper that are mostly focused on "the sublime" as subject matter, from large cloud masses to the smallest pinecone, all zoomed up for full impact.
