Digital. I painted this mostly in Painter, with a little finessing in Photoshop, based upon a ballpoint drawing. Originally, the coins weren't included, but the AD pointed out that each of the hands was a Kami unto itself. I wasn't sure what small objects should be floating around them (fingernails?!), so I decided on small glowing coins. I made a series of them tilting at different angles, and placed a bunch of them around the picture at different sizes and angles. Quite a timesaver.
